CTXR platform officially live: a new digital layer for cities, now open to everyone
The CityTourXR platform officially launched this month. Organisations, cities, developers and makers can now sign up via ctxr.app to build their own interactive city information, routes, visualisations and XR experiences. The soft launch took place during the "Transform the City" meetup in Rotterdam.
Bringing city information to life
CTXR is a modular, scalable data platform that unlocks urban and area information through interactive maps, routes and Points of Interest, connecting locations to meaningful content. The platform is built on open standards such as JSON, GeoJSON and REST APIs — a transparent, future-proof foundation for digital city experiences, participation and XR applications.
It's not the travel or the destination that matters, it's the experience of getting there.
From data to usable applications
Many organisations see opportunities in data, AI, 3D, digital twins and visualisation, but in practice run into the same questions: where do you start, what data is available, and how do you turn it into something usable? Since launch, organisations, developers, cities and makers can sign up via onboard.ctxr.app to build their own routes, tours or data visualisations, structure and enrich urban information, connect XR experiences to physical locations, quickly test prototypes, and collaborate within an open ecosystem. The platform supports both browser-based experiences and integrations with XR platforms such as 8th Wall and Mapbox.
