150 years of Amsterdam Fire Brigade: an AR walk through the city centre
How do you celebrate 150 years of firefighting? By putting history back where it happened. For the Amsterdam-Amstelland safety region we made a free city walk in which you experience historic fire brigade moments in augmented reality at several locations in the city centre. A gift to the city, which is celebrating its 750th anniversary at the same time.

History on the street
The Brandweer AMS app guides you past several places in Amsterdam's city centre. At each one, a piece of fire brigade history comes to life in augmented reality, supported by video and audio recordings. An ordinary walk becomes a journey through a century and a half of firefighting.
Built on CTXR
The route runs on the CTXR platform. Content and locations are stored as open, structured data (JSON, GeoJSON and REST APIs), so they can be reused elsewhere. In the browser you can build your own routes (placelists), receive notifications on location and save or share routes.
Free to download
The Brandweer AMS app is free for iPhone and Android.
