IFFR Tiger on the Loose: 50 webAR film moments across Rotterdam
During the hybrid 50th edition of the International Film Festival Rotterdam (1 to 7 February 2021), the festival let its tiger loose in the city. At 50 places, a green screen object stood like a gap in the street. Scan the QR code and the tiger's film world opens in augmented reality, right in the browser.

A marathon of film
The 50 greenspots stood roughly 500 to 1,000 metres apart. Seen from above they formed the festival logo; walking them all meant covering about 42 kilometres, a marathon. Each object showed a different film fragment in augmented reality, with the tiger as the common thread.
No app needed
The experiences run in the browser (webAR, with 8th Wall): scan the QR code and watch. There were also green screen filters for Facebook and Instagram, made with Spark Studio, available through IFFR's channels and at the greenspots.
Result
The installations generated 12,998 interactions, and the project was nominated for an Auggie Award 2021, one of the most prestigious prizes in augmented reality.
